2013 TalentSparks! A Coalition of BioSciences Institutes (CSBI) program in partnership with the iBIO Institute EDUCATE Center

Participants: Educators, grades 6-12
In this workshop, educators explored the important past, present, and future of tissue culture including its development, applications, and related issues. The program included two days of hands-on skills development in biotechnology and expert presenters from industry and academic research institutions, and one day of interactive presentations from experts from biotechnology companies presenting at the BIO International Convention. The program emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of biotechnology education and modeled teaching that exemplifies the Next Generation Science Standards, the Common Core State Standards, and 21st century skills.
